The first steps - creating a design
As an artist, the jewellery designer, will first pen down or these days create a concept using a computer for CAD or computer aided design creating an image of how the jewellery might look like.

If the designer has none of these available than they have to hire a professional artist to create a drawing or illustration of what they intend to produce.

It is here they have to decide the composition of their creation such as materials to be used in terms of precious metals, the colours and shapes, which determine what stones they will use.
