Diamond grading: Less of an art and more of a practice
Diamonds are predominantly worn as rings albeit a solitaire or an eternity ring of stars or small stones known by their size and referred to as pointers. For example a 5 pointer means 20 stones to a carat and so on. But the smaller stones are much cheaper and the diamonds of 1 carat weight and more the prices start to spiral upwards.
It takes years of practice, experience and knowledge to grade diamonds with the naked eye accurately and still two appraisers may differ on value exceptionally. However with the automation of the diamond grading process it has perhaps become less of an art and more of a practice.
