Diamonds set in gold

The preferred or popular setting for diamonds is white metal. I have discussed in a separate article the virtue of setting your diamonds in a plated metal. However if your preference is for a white metal then by all means use a palladium based alloyed gold. However yellow and pink gold provides a very attractive setting for diamonds. The sparkle or the fire and brilliance in such settings is more exaggerated by the contrast. But it is a matter of personal taste and preference of the discerning buyer to choose what they want. If you are going to use the jewellery regularly set them in gold of 18k as settings in purer gold are possible but because of the softness of the metal the person wearing the jewellery has to be extremely careful when wearing such jewellery as the diamonds may pop out of the setting if the wearer is negligent whilst wearing such jewellery.

Most importantly enjoy your jewellery it is after all a body ornament in addition to being a great investment.
